Data Marts Acentrix 3.0

Global Data Marts

New to Acentrix 3.0 are global data marts. A global data mart allows two or more data marts to be related to each other. This is typically done through a common customer key between multiple divisions or applications within an organization.

A global data mart allows the user to create and segment target lists based on filters from multiple data marts. As an example today's communication companies are often comprised of cable/satellite, internet, wireless and telecom services. With the use of a global data mart the user can generate a target list of customers who have phone service and wireless service but do not have internet service.

Data Marts

Acentrix data marts are a de-normalized star or snowflake schema of an organizations customers, products and/or services resulting in target list queries running in minutes not several hours (sometimes days) of a typical data warehouse.

Multiple data marts are also supported by Acentrix. This is helpful if your organization has multiple divisions with separate customer bases. If an organization has undergone the process of generating a common customer key indicator within their current data warehouse then a global data mart (as mentioned above) can also be implemented. A global data mart allows target lists to be generated against one or more data marts.

Data Mart Management

Data marts are created and maintained through Acentrix.EM (Enterprise Manager). The EM allows the Acentrix administrator to create a data mart and define its tables, fields and relationships.

Each field can be assigned to a group and given a descriptive name. This hides the user unfriendly world of SQL field names from the Acentrix user as well as grouping related fields making them easier to find.
